Pumpkin picking...you'll never guess what Isabel picked out!

The opportunity to pick local produce at is one of our favorite things about living in Madison. We have never gone and picked a pumpkin, but thought that it would be fun to take Isabel out and get one. There is a local apple orchard/pumpkin patch, so we headed out her on this beautiful fall afternoon. We wanted to get one pumpkin to put out by the front door and figured we'd let Isabel pick out which ever one she wanted. We looked through a number of pumpkins both large and small...it was a tough choice, but she picked out the runt pumpkin, that was green and soggy, with a dried out stump (that fell off the next day when we moved it out of the car). We also picked one of the nicer looking small pumpkins to put out on the front step (since Isabel's pumpkin was not going to do the trick!) When we went to check out, they ignored the half dead runt pumpkin that Isabel was proudly carrying and only charged us for the healthy pumpkin we picked out. All in all it was a great fall afternoon!
